Panic and emergency integration with Openitem Access Control provides organizations with a rapid, coordinated response to critical situations. In the app this is driven by Openitem's Panic Button / Emergency SOS feature, with Critical Alerts ensuring the alarm is heard even on devices set to silent or Do Not Disturb.

Club Integration with Openitem Access Control provides members and staff with a seamless, secure, and efficient entry experience. By linking access points directly to the club’s membership database, the system ensures that only authorized individuals gain entry while automatically updating records in real time. Collections and Checkout

Payments#

Access and facilities are often paid for before they are used — a visitor booking a venue, a resident paying a levy, a contractor buying a day pass. Openitem Access Control works with South African payment gateways so the payment and the access right are one step rather than two.

Through Electronic Payments, a confirmed payment releases a digital credential — a QR code or PIN — valid for the booked period, with no card reader at the gate and no cash on site.

Trusted Third-party Vaildation

Verifications#

OpenItem integrates with trusted verification and identity platforms and other third-party validation services to strengthen access control, onboarding, compliance, and operational security across estates, facilities, logistics environments, and controlled sites. The platform enables real-time verification of people, vehicles, documentation, licences, credentials, and identity records directly within operational workflows. From visitor onboarding and contractor approvals to workforce management and access validation, OpenItem ensures that every movement and transaction is supported by trusted verification data.

Smart Locking Hardware

Smart Locks#

Smart locks bring access control to doors that were never wired for it: apartments and student rooms, hotel rooms, offices, storerooms and plant rooms. Credentials are issued and revoked remotely instead of keys being cut and collected, and every unlock is recorded. Openitem works with three smart-lock ranges, each suited to a different kind of door.

KK Smart Locks supplies IoT-connected smart locks for residential, commercial and hospitality use, from front-door and internal locks to cylinder, aluminium-door and hotel locking. Salto electronic locks need no hard wiring and form a wire-free networked locking solution across locksets, cylinders and wall readers; Salto is also one of the access control platforms Openitem integrates with. Control iD’s iDLock Bio is a compact biometric digital lock with a capacitive fingerprint reader, touch keypad and Bluetooth control from the iDHome app, for up to 500 users and 110 fingerprints.

Metering, Billing and Building Performance

Utilities#

Utility data sits naturally alongside access and community data. Openitem works with utility management and building-performance platforms so estates, body corporates and property managers can see electricity, water, solar and metering information in the same operational picture as the people, vehicles and bookings already moving through Openitem.

EcoFlux is an intelligent utilities and building-performance platform that brings electricity, water, solar, boreholes, heat pumps, generators and metering into one portfolio view, with financial intelligence, alerts and reporting built on the same governed data. Dwellowize provides residents with a home wallet for topping up and managing their utility account online.
